Make peace with the past, live mindfully in the present, find meaning in the future

About me
Hi, my name is Dr. Dan Tao, I’m a Clinical Psychologist registered with the OPQ. Life can be challenging for all of us at times. I’m here to witness your pain, and together, we will find a path forward. I believe successful therapy starts with a warm, caring, open and authentic relationship. I provide client-centred, flexible and collaborative therapy tailored to your goals and needs. I focus on your strengths and values as sources of healing, and together, we will navigate with mindfulness and compassion.
My services
I provide individual therapy to adults, older adults, teenagers (14+) as well as couples therapy. I specialize in working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, such as first- and second-generation immigrants, people with mixed cultural heritage, and those with religious background. I offer therapy in English and Mandarin.

My experience
I have extensive training in various hospitals, universities and private practices. I am experienced in dealing with anxiety, depression, identity development, life transitions, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, work-related stress, trauma, grief, coping with illness and personal growth topics.

My approach
I draw from a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including acceptance and commitment (ACT), cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical-behavioral (DBT), emotionally-focused (EFT), internal family systems (IFS), psychodynamic and schema therapy. I pay special attention to the broader contexts your life story situates in, including your family relationships, social circles, culture, religion, the larger society and beyond.
My offer
Whether you want to heal from the past, have a better relationship with yourself and others in the present, or find meaning and direction for your future, I am here to accompany you throughout the challenging journey towards a fulfilling, balanced and happy life.
